Gardening For Jesus

The "Gardening For Jesus" ministry will be planting tomato and cucumber plants this Friday (May 17th) at 8:00am at 10679 Five Forks Road, behind the home of Carroll and Esther Stottlemyer.  If you're coming from the church you will turn right at their address and travel down a lane to get to their house.

In the picture, the yellow arrow in the upper right hand corner is the church, the arrow in the lower left hand corner is the property where the garden is located.

The only thing you need to bring on Friday is a pair of gloves.  The project should take an hour or two.  Coffee, juice and snacks will be provided.  Then in another 2 or 3 weeks, there will be more planting taking place.

40,000 Packed

It wasn't without some obstacles, but by the end of the evening 40,000 meals were packed last night.  Over 300 volunteers gathered in the Mulit-Purpose Room to pack these meals that will be sent to feed the hungry in Africa.

The obstacle was a skid(pallet) that missed getting loaded on the truck back in Philadelphia.  Unfortunatly this skid contained a number of important items, including the all-important baggies. And so a run was made to a local store to purchase as many baggies as possible, and so things got started about 45 minutes late.  Everyone maintained a good spirit and by the end of the evening much was accomplished.  Here are some pictures from last night's event:

Hunger Strike Packing Tonight

Tonight several hundred people will be gathering in the Multi-Purpose Room to pack the meals for the Hunger Strike Project.   Fifteen work stations have been set up (see picture) and around 5:30 a truck should arrive at the church containing all the "ingredients."

All volunteers should be at the church by 7:00 ready to go.  Everyone will go to one of the workstations, and a short instructional video will be shown so we know what to do when it comes to packing.  Then we'll get busy.

Thanks to all of you who have signed up to help, we're looking forward to a great evening!
